Be Magnificently Simple!

S implicity is the essential state of all Beings, so it’s no wonder that it’s popular, especially now when our lives are constantly drenched in a tsunami of stuff. And I don’t just mean all the ‘Thing Stuff,’ that’s only a reflection of our interior state; I mean the ‘Thought Stuff’ that clouds our minds, and blocks our ability to directly experience the world. Most of the advice we get involves shedding physical stuff to live a simpler life, it’s helpful, but misses the mark. Simplicity is not about having too much stuff – simplicity is about ‘Being,’ and being is about connection.

M agnificent Simplicity is the awe inspiring creative framework of our existence, and my peaceful battlecry, ‘Be Simple,’ reflects the most important path to power that I can share with you. The ‘Be’ is Being: Your essential ground of existence; and ‘Simple’ is the process of staying connected to that Being, so to be Magnificently Simple – is to Simply, Be.

I simply adore simplicity, not just because it’s the sacred geometric structure of all matter, or the Double Helix of universal energetic expression, but because it’s the touchstone of creativity. Simplicity let’s you operate on the highest plane of Being possible, and allows your unique consciousness to drive your purpose in life – whatever you have decided that purpose is.

I believe that my simple purpose is to flow love & attention into everything that shows up, and illuminate it’s creative truth across whatever medium/s it resonates to. For you the specifics may be different, but the process is the same: You’re flowing your love (conscious attention) into whatever is showing up for you.

The Body Electric

Your body is the perfect example of the power of being simple. When it needs energy, it focuses your attention by making your stomach grumble; when you face a threat, it initiates your flight or fight response; and when the body needs to expend energy to repair itself, it makes you sleepy, and then its Zzzzzz.

S imple communication works like a charm: When hungry – eat; when tired – sleep; when thirsty – drink. Higher level thought works on the same principle, except your Conscious Purpose is sending signals to your body by using the energy of ‘Feeling.’

‘Feeling’ is Believing

The Body’s energetic approach to communication brings us to our next level simplicity component: Feeling. I’m a big fan of feeling, to me it represents the unique personal array of creative Power Links that signal an idea, and/or insight is waiting at the edge of your consciousness for you yo use. You may feel it as the electric buzz of excitement, a faster heartbeat, or a lightness in your body, but however you experience it, this is how your consciousness – your Purpose – gets your attention. It’s a signal that something important is happening, and that you need to focus your attention on it. It’s that simple

T he essential function of human experience is to transform conscious thought into ideas, and ideas into action. Agree? Disagree? On the fence? I want you to stretch your imagination, engage your Fierce Perception, and experience how this statement makes you feel. Scan your body; is there an energy present? If so, great, keep reading with this in mind and allow the feeling to guide you to the ideas that resonate the strongest!

Thought Experiments 

For me thoughts come in two formats – Truth & Fiction. A Truthful thought just feels good. It releases a light, positive energy, and leads to ideas & actions that build a life affirming reality. Fictional thoughts create the opposite reaction. They feel heavy, they bury you in complexity, and they suck creative power right out of you. Fictional thoughts specialize in obscuring the truth to create fear, and fear my dear friend, will block you from accomplishing your purpose faster than you can say ‘Beetlejuice.’

W hen thoughts go bad, the culprit is always ego. When you allow your ego to believe that it is running the show – instead of your connected consciousness & purpose – it will root around in your past, dig up your most unforgiving, shame filled memories, and use them to beat you into depression and paralysis. Fictional thoughts are only valuable when you’re using them to tell a fictional story; but they’re deadly when you allow them to become a part of your life.

I Think, therefore I Spam

So your body is the perfect example of the power of Being Simple, and it’s a master communicator, very cool. And thoughts come in two distinct flavors: True & Fictional, got it. So why do we get jammed up and overwhelmed by negative feelings, especially when life get complicated and busy?

Here’s my ‘Binary, 1 & 0’ Codex on Overwhelm:

(1) Truthful Thoughts will NEVER jam you up. They’re all about effortless flow, where ‘Easy Does It’ every time!

(0) Fictional (Negative) Thoughts will ALWAYS jam you up. They’re all about constricting, or cutting off the flow, and your ego uses them like spam to jam your Energetic Link inbox until you shut down from sheer exhaustion; or worse…

Please Note: If the truth makes you feel uncomfortable, please shut down your ego and re-boot your perception. Remember, ego is a master of twisting the truth to protect it’s power.

Pain is a Good Thing

Now here’s the energetic crux of overwhelm: If you’re in the (1) you’re in the flow, and your Purpose is in the driver’s seat; if you’re in the (0) you’re cutting off the flow, and your ego is at the wheel. Every time you think a fictional thought and apply it to your life, your body tries to warn you by sending out a ‘Good Pain’ response – an uncomfortable Emotional pinch that’s designed to guide you back to the (1).

When you ignore that pain signal and continue to dwell on (0) thoughts, your body continues to warn you, until the discomfort builds to critical mass and overwhelms your ability to recognize truthful thoughts. This cyclical ‘void dance’ prevents you from using your creativity to fulfill your purpose, and can lead to destructive behaviors like physical abuse and addiction, as you try to deaden the Pain.

P ain is your friend. It’s a genetically designed physical response to focus your attention on a specific problem. So let’s say you break your leg, would you continue to walk on it and hobble around in excruciating pain, or find a Doctor? If you said Doctor, you get a gold star. This physical problem solving process is the same for your mind, but you are the Doctor, and you set the mental break by using truthful positive thoughts to cast out the fictional negative thoughts.

Speaking ‘Truth’ to Dissolve Powerful Illusions

Answering fictional negative thoughts with truthful positive thoughts is how we speak power to the illusion, so when you practice speaking the truth to yourself, be specific. Here’s one of my favorite retorts – when the fictional thought says ‘I’m an idiot for being simple’ – I feel the feeling that statement creates in my body, and reclaim my power by stating: ‘I am not an idiot, that word is just an ego judgement and I am that I am: pure awareness, and the conscious expression of connected creativity.’ Speaking truth instantly dissolves the fictional thought, and increases creative flow, so follow Popeye’s lead and eat your truth spinach.

Instant En-Lighten-Ment

En-Lighten-Ment is a decision where you decide, like my buddy Popeye, that “I’ve had all I can stands, and I can’t stand’s no more!” No excuses, no waffling, we’re back to (1)’s and (0)’s here – “Do, or Do Not” as our powerful green friend Yoda once said. Get powerfully onboard and lighten your psychic load, so you can flow maximum energy into your wonderfully unique purpose. My friend Lisa shared this tech term with me, ‘You’re either a Source, or a Sink.” Which means you’re either radiating energy through, or allowing it to get sucked out of you by your negative fictional thoughts & actions. Your essential Being is designed to flow effortlessly, but you have to get out of your own way and let it!

“To flow, or not to flow; that is the question.”

The Mechanics of Simplicity

Once you decide, ‘The Mechanics of Simplicity’ take over. They’re what makes watching a world class athlete so compelling; a great performers’s work so exciting; or any expert act of human action so fascinating. The energy that these action masters release is so pure, that it even the spectators feel the absolute focus and joy involved. Think of it this way, simplicity allows the maximum flow of focus & energy; while the mechanics guide that energy into specific action.

F un fact: I don’t know about you, but when I watch world class expressions of human achievement, there’s a little voice in my head that says ‘Yeah, I can do that!’ Now, before you call me out on my stunning hubris, think of this: The voice that tells us ‘we can do it’ is absolutely right, because we are doing it. These athletes and performers are tapping into the collective energy we all share to achieve perfection, and that authenticity is what Being is all about.

Magnificently Simple Steps to Being

1. Decide Ignore all the noise your fictional thoughts are trying to distract you with and decide to be Magnificently Simple – you’re worth it – and yes, it is that simple.

2. Breathe ‘Being’ is breathing, so get comfy, follow each breath, empty your mind, and enjoy being magnificently, and simply, present.

3. Flow the Ch’i, GrasshopperCh’i (qi) is the word the ancient Chinese gave to the ‘Life-force’ that infuses and connects everything. Can you feel that energy radiating within you? The quieter your mind, the easier it is to feel and appreciate it’s power, as it whispers, speaks, or sings through you.

4. Hocus Focus – Engage your Fierce Perception and let it lead you to all the places within your consciousness that need housecleaning – especially the fictional thoughts that are dirtying up your mind. Make a list if you need to, and then move to #5.

5. Spring into Cleaning – Time to answer each negative fictional thought, with your positive truthful thought. And make sure you feel your feelings as you speak out, because feeling is an act of reclaiming that energy, and will dissolve even the most pernicious, tenacious, bodacious personal or societal fictions.

6. Wash, Rinse, Repeat – Please keep in mind that your ego has programmed many of these dirty little fictional thoughts deeply into your subconscious, so they’ll keep coming up like a midnight binge of flaming hot Cheetos. So just keep repeating the cleaning process, and eventually your truth will re-program the fiction, and you’ll be free of it. It worked for me, it’ll work for you.

Beware of Gobbledygook

I love the word Gobbledygook, it’s so wonderfully ‘Sticky’ that I’m using it here to describe the people who try to sell you their own fictional n-BS (non-Being Stuff). First the Stuff part: Now that you’re magnificently simple in mind & deed, and firmly ensconced in your purposeful being, your physical reality will start to reflect your mindscape, and your world will begin to de-clutter naturally. You’ll probably feel an urge to purge, and start to shed the Stuff that’s blocking your flow, so if you have any doubts just follow your FP, it will tell you what gets in the way, and what opens you up.

What about the ‘Peeps?’ Well, Don’t Believe their Hype – if someone is selling you a Bowling Alley, make sure you can roll on those lanes, if not, ignore their spiel and move ’em along. It’s your magnificently simple life, so be mindful to avoid the clutter of OPF (Other People’s Fictions). Don’t buy into anything that doesn’t feel truthful to your purpose and keep anyone & anything out of your life, that doesn’t serve your magnificence. That’s Simplicity in a nutshell my friend.

Hello, I must be Going

In ‘Show me the Love’, I touched on feelings, emotion, and their link to the ‘Presence-Fierce Perception-Emotion Ideas-Action’ Energy flow. When you’re being Magnificently Simple, this flow becomes second nature, and your creativity and creative output will expand exponentially to fill your reality with positive goodies. How do I know? I’m experiencing it right now, and since you’re a fellow ‘Simply Magnificent Being’ you’ll experience it too, just keep showing up, and it’ll show up for you!
